Market Square (Bazaar) - Gundree Bazaar

The Market Square also popularly known as Bazaar is situated on a square piece of ground flanked by eating shops, spice shops, restaurants, gold and silversmiths and a Hindu Temple. It has regular lanes selling spices, tea, vegetables, butter cheese, cloth, umbrellas, clothes and almost everything of daily domestic use.

The Bazaar receives an added influx and impetus during the festivals when the villagers and the workers from the surrounding Tea Gardens and villages come up to do their buying and selling. All the noise and excitement, colour and confusion, hustle and bustle of the Eastern Bazaars are to be found here too; it is a choice ‘hunting ground’ for photographers wishing to capture ‘local colour’.
