Sikkim Janata Party was a political party based in Sikkim, India. It was founded by Lal Bahadur Basnet. Sikkim Janata Party was active in the Pro-Democracy Movement in the erstwhile Kingdom of Sikkim. Sikkim Janata Party was founded in the end of 1969. In October 1972, Sikkim Janata Party merged with Sikkim State Congress to form Sikkim Janata Congress.

Lal Bahadur Basnet was an active leader of the Pro-Democracy Movement in the erstwhile Kingdom of Sikkim. He was often persecuted by the Royal Government of Sikkim.

In 1980, Basnet authored a book titled - 'His Majesty's Paying Guest'.
